We had a fantastic time on little Caye Caulker off the coast of Belize. This vacation rental was in a beautifully landscaped, peaceful and private setting. The house is just as pictured with beautiful hardwood floors and high ceilings. We were provided with everything you could want for a comfortable stay and the property managers, Michael Joseph and his sister Cece could not have been more helpful and welcoming. We rented a golf cart for our stay which made for a nice way to take advantage of the Island bustling with friendly people and gorgeous scenery especially since we were traveling with a 4 year old. I would definitely recommend the Seahorse Cabana to anyone wanting to visit this little bit of paradise!
This was the first time my husband and I took our children (5 & 7) abroad, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The cabana is perfectly located-- near the village but off the beaten track. The pool and surrounding landscaping are gorgeous. The access to the dock across the way made it easy to run between ocean and pool, and back again. I HIGHLY recommend renting bikes. It makes traveling around the island SO easy. The farthest end of the island is less than 10 minutes by bike. For us, the cabana had everything we needed. A/C and wifi, for the adults. Cable TV for the kids. The kitchen is perfectly fine. No dishwasher, which is really unnecessary. We didn't use the washing machine, but were glad to have it Sadly, we let the kids sleep in the bedroom, and we ended up on the futon. It was fine. Next time, we might spring for a 2 bedroom, but I can't imagine anything being quite as lovely as the Seahorse. Michael and CC, who manage the property, were delightful and VERY helpful. They gave us a local cell to call or text them at any time. Also good for calling golf cart taxis and making dinner reservations. Case Per Caso is a MUST. Handmade pasta every night. The island is safe; the people are warm. The food is good; the water is gorgeous. Most of all, Caye Caulker is an easy place to be, which is exactly what you want vacation to be- easy.
This was the perfect place for us.....we enjoyed the very comfortable cabana, and took advantage of the pool just a few feet from our front door! Michael and Ceci and Alfonso made sure we had all we needed.....they were terrific! Any future visits to this part of the woods will have us staying right here again! Thank you all for a worry-free and relaxing get-away!
My family I stayed in the Seahorse cabana October 4-15, 2016. The cabana is AWESOME and has everything you need.... The gardens are beautiful and the pool is cleaned daily. Debbie was excellent on the administrative end and sent detailed instructions before our trip. I can not say enough about Michael and Ceci, they are amazing. They were so friendly and did everything to ensure that we felt welcome and enjoyed our holiday. Walking into the "downtown core" of Caye Caulker was so much fun and we really enjoyed a number of restaurants including: Meldy's, Erroyln's, Bambooze and Ice and Beans (best iced coffee on the planet). We spent the days exploring and being lazy... It was a perfect holiday!!! One word of caution: I was eaten alive by sand flies so do as Debbie suggests and bring bug spray....
This was our first trip to Belize and Caye Caulker. We would stay at the Seahorse again and will recommend it to others. There are 3 cabins in the gated "compound" with one shared pool. The pool/deck were larger than I pictured and very well maintained. The community shares a private swim dock that was very nice and did provide shade. If you really want a "beach" Caye Caulker is not for you but there are plenty of places to swim around the island. Michael and the staff were very accommodating.
My friend and I stayed at the Seahorse Cabana May 2-6 and could not have asked for a better getaway! Extremely easy booking process and Debbie was prompt with replies! The property manager Michael was so helpful!! The house was perfect, clean, and comfortable. The pool was wonderful and the walk to the water wasn't bad at all. We definitely used the bikes to get around town but the walk wasn't too bad either! We loved Caye Caulker and I'm already planning my next trip back! Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation!!!
Everyone involved with the property was very helpful, especially Ceci, Victor and Michael. We were picked up at the landing strip, driven to the cottage, set up with the phone and water. We even had a case of beer delivered to us when we casually mentioned that we were running out of Beliken. The only downside to the stay had nothing to do with the property. There was an invasion of sand fleas that somehow enjoyed biting Americans and one of us developed a severe allergic reaction. The medical center was somewhat helpful but it kind of put a damper on the stay. Also, we noticed that the island seemed to have an inordinate amount of litter, including plastic bottles, styrofoam containers and other debris along the beach paths and the path through the preserve.
We had a great time in Caye Caulker. Debbie's place was a little gem in the forest. It was very comfortable. A bit of a walk to town but we enjoyed the exercise and gentle teasing about slowing down. Victor was a great help. There was nothing that he wasn't willing to do for us. He, too, was a gem. Thanks to Micheal for his graciousness as well.
My husband and I were very pleased with the Cabana. It was very secluded and peaceful. The grounds were gorgeous, with lush, tropical plants. We always had the pool to ourselves. The cabana was really cute, with beautiful woodwork and vaulted ceilings. It had everything we needed. We cooked meals for ourselves every day. The property management staff was really friendly and helpful. We highly recommend it!
My wife and i came for my 50th. What an idyllic and spacious cottage! The living room/dining room/kitchen is airy, spacious and clean. The Bedroom was perfect for our needs and the queen bed was remarkably comfortable. There was plenty of cookware for at-home meals too. The small airport is literally half-a-block away from the cottage. You can step-off the Tropic Air plane and wheel your luggage to the cottage in a couple of minutes! However, the gregarious and knowledgeable property manager, Michael, was right there upon landing to pick us up in his golf cart and transport us (& our luggage) to the cottage. Michael is fantastic and can help answer any questions/concerns you may have. You may come across the occasional 'water bug' in the bathroom but, on a tropical island such as this, it ain't no thang. Also, the airport only has single-engine planes coming and going a couple times each hour so it's not even a distraction. (Plus the tiny airport closes around 5:30pm, i think.) You share the gorgeous, clean pool with 2 other cottages on the property. Everyone's busy out exploring the island so we rarely even saw the other folks. We got the use of 2 bicycles (& a chain lock) for the week and rode into town (about 5 or 6 min.) on a daily basis for restaurants, snorkeling, the Split, and overall exploring. Michael also provides a large 5 gal. jug of water (or two) for your stay as the local water, while safe, has a mineral flavor to it. Also, be sure to make use of the new dock the owners have built just a couple blocks away! We hung out there a few times and sat in the comfy deck chairs and went for a warm-as-bathwater swim off the end. If we were ever to return to Caye Caulker, we wouldn't hesitate staying at the Seahorse Cabana again! Thank you all for the stellar accommodations!
This home was perfect and more than we expected. The location is fantastic and it has all of the conveniences you could ever need. We actually cooked most of our meals at the house and enjoyed breakfast by the pool daily. There are bikes at the house to get you to town or to the split for snorkeling. The house is new and clean with tons of island charm. You will quickly make friends with the Crabs and Iguanas. Michael is wonderful and knows everything about the island.
Perfect place for a stay on Caye Caulker!! The property is absolutely beautiful! We had crabs and iguanas greet us out front each morning. The small home is extremely comfortable. A/C kept us cool while inside the house and the washer kept our clothes clean and fresh! The property is new a great location, for us anyways. It's on the outside of town where it's quite and away from the crowds, but a two minute bike ride to food and the Caye Caulker Bakery, which has the best cinnamon rolls!! Owners were also fantastic!! Easy to get a hold of and communicate with. We added a night to our stay through email communication and had it worked out literally in a couple of hours! Recommend this place to anyone traveling with four or less people!!
The cabana and staff were amazing. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our stay here and on the island. A wonderful place to relax and unwind from the busy work life. We loved being able to cook our meals and spend quality time together. The short walk to the beach was just that short. We enjoyed the rental of the bikes offered when walking wasn't what we had in mind when going into town. Caye Caulker will be a place we will come back to again. We are already planning a trip with our kids next time. Thank you so much for offering an amazing place that we can enjoy.
This was a little piece of paradise!!! Our bungalow was lovely with all the necessary emenities tucked away amongst tropical gardens. Only a few steps away was a gorgeous swimming pool that was a glorious thing to have in the heat of the day. With just a short ride to town on our bikes we had access to all of the fun the island offers. We particularly enjoyed Pasta Picaso so much we went several times. They offer homemade pasta & traditional Italian food that was so amazing we thought we were in Italy where the owner Armondo was born & raised in Venetto. His gorgeous wife Anna is an incredible cook, the atmosphere is delightful!!! We enjoyed Aladdin's, Rosie's, 88 West, Coconut Reef & many other delicious restaurant's. The local fare from street vendors is also phenominal. Michael & his beautiful wife Luciana manage this property & are wonderful people who we feel fortunate to have met. They also operate the Oasis around the corner with an amazing outdoor bar, definitely try to check it out!!! We could easily have stayed longer & absolutely recommend this gem to anyone. I celebrated my 50th birthday while there & feel fortunate to have such wonderful memories. Can't wait to go back!!!
Lovely cottage and charming garden. The pool was a blessing, everyday, and so relaxing. And the beach trail is awesome. Few homemaking amenities are included, so be prepared to shop. Shopping is convenient. Property manager is a great guy and so helpful - so was the owner. I'll be back to Caye Caulker and would stay there again. Try Rosa's for catch of the day and Sid's for yummy fried chicken, beans and rice. Take a camera, bug repellant and sunscreen. Great coffee! Bakery bakes delicious bread and cinnamon rolls.
The place was very cute and had all the essentials. Some bugs but I believe that's normal in the country. I'd definitely go back! The owner was so helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend.
So happy to hear that you enjoyed the new cabana and swimming pool. Thank you again!
The care taker Michael was very helpful and friendly. He was often on the property and always smiled. The home was brand new, well thought out and very comfortable. It was well stocked in the kitchen which made cooking easy. The pool was refreshing and a pleasure to rest by. Although the airstrip was a few hundred feet away, it was not an annoyance. However the bar on the next block did provide us with early morning and night time "thumping" sounds. We rode our bicycles many miles and enjoyed sight seeing by bike. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying at the Sea Horse.
