We loved our home. It had everything we needed including AC, television, great wifi, clean pool. Bikes were awesome for getting around island. Shared pool was clean and lovely. Grill for cooking. Blender in kitchen. Locked gate felt very safe. Property was perfect for our stay.
The cottage itself is great. Really cute and comfortable. It is in a fenced in area with three other cottages that share one swimming pool. With all the vegetation surrounding the cottage, I never saw or heard the neighboring cottages except when I saw them at the pool. The cottage was clean, with nice linens and nice hard wood floors and ceiling. Air conditioning with two ceiling fans made it very comfortable to stay. A nice little porch on the front was great to sit on. With the cottage comes access to a very nice dock that is a very short walk around the corner. The dock is beautiful. The cottage is on the southern end of the island by the airstrip. I suggest renting a bike to bike all around the island. Michael, the manager, was extremely helpful and a great host. He was very willing to help with a smile even on his day off. The cabin has internet, but it was broken most of my stay. The power also went out on the last day of my stay making the cabin warm, BUT there was a thunderstorm the night before so I do not think it was totally their fault. I don't think it was a problem that was within the managements control. I guess it's just the cost of being on a beautiful island, plus, who needs internet or to be indoors when you're in paradise. The island is beautiful and a lot of fun to stay on. The people are friendly, the beer cold, the food delicious and there are tons of fun tours and trips to take. I highly recommend both the island and the Sea Garden Cottage. Eat at Roses, Bambooze, Belizean Flava Get the fresh juices from the juice stand. Get stuff from the small food carts and stands. Only restaurant I didn't like was the Cuban one next to Sports Bar. Avoid! Bad food, poor service.
The house is great for a couple but a little too cramped for 4 people. However, there's a lot of unused space, which could be made into a loft above the current bed. A top window on the East and West side would make the space feel better. The location made us feel like locals. I would recommend this VRBO to everyone! Michael and the staff were fantastic! Thanks
This was our 2nd stay at Sea Garden Cottage. The cottage is nice and in a quiet location away from all of the hubbub of the central business district of Caye Caulker. The cottage shares a pool with 2 other cottages and was a nice dip after a hot walk around. The cottage is appointed with everything you need to enjoy your stay from pool towels to the modern appliances and stocked kitchen for cooking a meal. There is also a full sized refrigerator, which is nice and not often seen in vacation rentals. Debbie's property manager Michael is awesome and makes you feel quite at home. He is a great guy and takes care of the guests in his care! The cottage is very nice as well with Belizean hardwood accents and floors, which are beautiful. I had taken several photos of the interior but something is going on with my memory card and I lost all of those photos... My description doesn't do it justice! If you want a nice quiet home base for your stay, this is the place!
This is a studio, not a 1br 1 bath, but it's pretty nice. It's tucked back away from all of the action in town, which was nice for us (girlfriend and I). The pool and air conditioning were definitely pluses as it was very hot during our stay. Michael was very hospitable and we enjoyed the fact that there were nice amenities, like cable and internet when we felt like being lazy really late at night and just wanted to hang out (that's probably all you can really do; the sun came up early and seemed to set somewhat early during our stay). This was our first time in Belize and we definitely plan to return one day in the future!
This is one of a handful of properties overseen by a property management company on Caye Caulker. The place is on the small side, and it's a studio not a 1br 1 bath. It's tucked away from all of the action in town (which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your needs, it was about a 15 minute walk to shops and restaurants). The airstrip is right behind the house so you can hear planes taking off, but it doesn't happen at night so it didn't bother me. What did bother me was the construction workers next door... every time I left the house they would harass me until I finally yelled at them to leave me alone. I felt like I couldn't leave the house by myself. The pool and air conditioning were definitely pluses as it was very hot during our stay. The place was fine, but it seemed like there were places closer to town that were a better deal.
HI Stephanie, I am sorry that the neighbors workers were rude to you. I called the owner of that home and let her know and she spoke with her workers..I wish I would have known this during you stay, I could have perhaps been of some assistance and made a difference in your stay. The workers have since completed the very small project and are back on the mainland. I am glad that you enjoyed the cottage, pool, private beach area and dock. Thank you
Caye Caukler..WOW!! !!! it is most definitely like all the reviews I had read. The place had its beauty and it has its not so beauty parts. Now Sea Garden Cottage was the beauty of Caye Caukler. The little cottage sat at the back part Caye Caukler it was very beautiful the trees around it was beautiful the coconut tree in the backyard was really beautiful the inside of the little cottage is exactly what you see on VRBO. The manager Michael was very very pleasant. I would like to thank him for the most pleasant arrival to Caye Caukler. He had a taxi waiting for us after we got off the water taxi. The taxi driver was very pleasant himself. when we arrived to the cottage he showed us around gave us everything we needed to have and the one thing that I was very thankful for was the cell phone with preset phone numbers awesome to like the taxi, pizza delivery guy. I will most definitely visit Caye Caukler again.
Home was clean but small. Water pressure was weak in shower. Took a while to get hot water from shower but once on was adequate and plentiful. Pool was generally quiet and lovely. Staff was helpful, pleasant and responsive. Ditto Victoria. Walk and riding along the beach included a strong seaweed odor which was surprising to us. Didn't notice very many bugs except when we had food around. House was very clean on arrival. Will definitely come back.
This cottage is perfect for 2 people! The house had everything we needed. The garden setting and the pool was an added bonus. We didn't miss the ocean at all! It was a short walk to the new dock where we spent some afternoons laying out in the sun and enjoying the view. But we loved being able to come back to the private pool and cool off. We rarely ran into our neighbors, as the pool is shared with 2 other homes, so it felt like we had the place completely to ourselves. The washer was nice to have. We ended up eating fresh fruit and fresh baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast and going out for lunches & dinners. Fresh Produce comes in on a barge on Wed. & Sat, so make sure to buy then or the pickings are slim. There is a bakery in town for breads, rolls & their bread pudding was excellent. There is a local man that comes around @ 3:30 pm everyday at the beach, on his bicycle, selling fresh cinnamon bread & rolls. Cheap and so good! The French Crepe Restaurant is wonderful- Get one to go to heat up for breakfast the next day! Don't miss eating at the Pasta place. Make reservations though, as it is a small place and very popular! We felt safe at all times of the day...No worries. People are friendly. Bug spray is a must. Buy those patches that Debbie the owner recommends. You can find them at BassPro shop or online. They worked great when combined with bug spray also. Skin so Soft Bug spray worked really good as it is an oil based product. Thanks to Michael, the property manager who was always around if needed and helpful! This was one of our most relaxing vacation spots. Not for the on the go people who always have to be busy. Just kick back relax and enjoy! Thank you!
The property manager, Michael, was extremely helpful ANYTHING that we wanted he got for us. The owners provided a cell phone so you could easily contact Michael, taxis or anyone else. It has a well stocked kitchen, full size pots, pans etc. Only a minute to the dock and 5-10 minutes to the village a convenient walk everywhere. Golf cart taxis readily available to get you and or your groceries home. Prices are very reasonable no need to bring anything with you. I would only bring my own sunscreen and bug spray. A wide variety of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Also plenty of guides to take you fishing, snorkeling, or to see Mayan temples. You can buy fresh fish directly from the fisherman. A very relaxing place and friendly people on Caye Caulker.
The place is immaculate - great welcoming from Michael, who manages several properties on the island. We were two adults and two kids and it was tight - but very well appointed. It's a good 10-15 minutes (20-25 with kids) walk to center of town so we found the bikes uber-convenient. There is a new dock and sand area about a 3 minute walk that is private to a group of homes - totally work a relaxing stop along the way. Whatever groceries you can bring, do it because it's not cheap on the island - BUT eat the shrimp sticks from the cart downtown and the bbq lobster downtown is great value. Enjoy every bit of your stay!
We loved our stay at the Sea Garden Cottage! The house was very well suited for our needs, and surrounded by beauty. Michael is extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming to the island. Had a great time riding bikes to and from town, and the dock was a great place to paddle board from. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the scenery.
We just returned from 9 nights at this quiet. Home. It was well equipped. Very private. We also enjoyed the pool that was shared by two other houses. We walked into town each morning and evening. It was a lovely walk. You may want to consider renting the bikes from the owners or taking a "golf cart" taxi.
This was a perfect place to relax with the family. It is set a little way away from the town so it was quiet. The pool area was beautiful and we took advantage of that a lot. The cottage was equipped with everything you needed to be self-sufficient. Michael immediately answered the phone when we called him and took care of our concerns. The use of the bikes was necessary as the property is a ways from the town. The airport was very close so you could hear the planes regularly but we didn't find that too bothersome. It was an incredibly enjoyable place to be and I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Caye Caulker.
This property was the perfect get away during my recent 4-month whirlwind tour of Central America! Clean, peaceful, and everything I needed to feel at home. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street, and still easily accessible with the rental bicycles available on-site. I do hope to return again to do more diving in the nearby reefs!
Enjoyed our stay at the Sea Garden Cottage. The pool was great and the place was very quite except during the day when the planes are landing and taking off, but we were gone most days. The main part of town is walkable and there are golf cart taxis' and bike rentals. We used Nick's Taxi he was really responsive and even gave us a tour of the island. Michael, the manager, was very friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a fun get-away.
We stayed at sea garden for 3 weeks and it was great. Ideally located on the quite end of the Island, brand new and very comfortable. The air conditioning and the pool are welcome ammenities. 10 minute bike ride from downtown front street and right beside the airport. Don't mess around with the water taxi, you can be at sea garden from Belize international in 10 min on tropic air for $80, it's a no brainer. The ocean is a 5 min walk from the villa and the dock out into the sea of tourquoise is impeccable. Great place to lay and soak up the sun, watch the stingrays and fish, kite boarders etc. just another great feature that is included in the package.Highly, Highly recommended.Mike the poolboy(lol) is very helpfull. Thanks Debbie, you have a jewel here for sure. Harvey and Kim
My husband and I spent a week on Caye Caulker and loved our stay at the Sea Garden cottage. The home is small but perfect for a couple just looking to relax. The cottage was very clean and stocked with fresh sheets, bath towels, and two pool towels. There are plenty of dishes and cooking utensils in the kitchen, though we enjoyed visiting the many restaurants on the island. There is a water cooler in the house so you have clean drinking water at your fingertips. Though the cottage is located immediately next to the airstrip, the noise is not excessive with just a few planes each day. Beyond that, the street is pretty quiet and off the main drag of the town. This means a little longer walk to restaurants, but the shore rode is gorgeous so you will not mind a bit. Make sure you get up early to catch a sunrise! Our favorite part of the property was definitely the pool. It is such a relaxing little corner of paradise! Plenty of room on the deck for lounging and sipping Bilikens. Ask the property manager to pick up a case of beer for you and it will be delivered to the cottage, so easy! We also enjoyed a massage from Mar, who works at Pizza Caulker. She brought the table to the deck so we really didn't have to do anything except enjoy. As others have said, check out Carlos for snorkeling tours. He is funny, knowledgeable, and takes care of you. We also went with another company and they didn't compare. Carlos will also take you to San Pedro for lunch so you get a little time out of the water. Check out the Sports Bar on Friday afternoon for live music and fun. Sip on rum punch at the many beach-side bars. And remember to Go Slow! Thanks for a great vacation of fun, sun, and relaxation!!
We stayed a week in this little cottage and loved it. We mostly had the pool to ourselves and enjoyed being outside of town and only a short bike ride to everything. A little tip....ride the bike trail from the airport area into town. Great breeze and we enjoyed riding along the ocean! I really cannot complain about anything(my hubby agrees w/others that bikes should be included). Property was clean, well maintained and Michael was great! We felt very safe in this cottage with camera's viewing the property and a safe is provided. Carlos tours for snorkeling was great and takes AWESOME pics for you to purchase afterwards. We did Liberty sailing and enjoyed our evening sail. If you want to go to Altum Ha then you might book way ahead and get confirmation on going. We had issues with that but it was not well planned out on our part so oh well. You can eat from super cheap to still a decent price compared to US. There is a new Italian place right next to Carolos tours and I would highly recommend it if you like authentic Italian! Bring a towel as you are limited to only a couple. We will be back and hope the cottage is open when we book next time! Thank you Caye Caulker for a great 40th Bday trip!
This place truly has everything you need! The cottage is exactly as pictured, very clean, comfy and cozy! It's on the quiet end of the island (and to echo other reviews, the airplanes are no bother at all and very quiet so don't worry about the proximity to the airstrip). Debbie has thought of everything, from wine glasses for those quiet nights on the little patio, to a large juice jug which we enjoyed mixing our Island Rum Punch concoctions in by the pool, books, DVDs, iPod speakers for tunes... Everything you need for a fantastic stay. We didn't use the bikes as we preferred to walk, which is cool as you can see small lizards and crabs scooting by! It's only a 10-minute walk to "town", so it's really the perfect location. You can take a beach path by the ocean or the direct route down the street. Also: don't let the shared pool deter you! If you were at a resort, it would be shared with many others! Our neighbours were great and with so much to do and see in Belize, we often had it to ourselves anyway! There are enough loungers for everyone and the patio is big enough so that you still feel like there is plenty of privacy. The booking process was extremely easy. Debbie was very fast with her responses and extremely accomodating when we had to change our dates. Michael was also great. Overall, this is the best place for couples or a little family on the island - we did not see any other comparable places on CC. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was very well kept, clean and was open and attractive. Perfect for two people. Could not have been in a more convenient place for flying to the mainland. We exclusively rode the bikes to everything. Loved our swim of a nearby dock and a perfect spot for watching Caye Caulker's sunsets that Michael the overseer told us about. The landscaping and pool were wonderful. So refreshing.
The cottage was wonderful. It had everything I needed. A home away from home. Very clean, quiet, well maintained, and comfortable. Definitely going back there very soon. The owners were very helpful and quick in replying to my emails. I highly recommend this property to anyone planning to stay at Caye Caulker. Michael the manager was very kind and helpful. My kids had a blast. They enjoyed it thoroughly. They are so eager to go back there. We did not want to leave. :) Such a lovely place.
I'm hesitant to tell you how great my experience was at this house because you may choose to book it during the same week that I want to book it on my next trip to the island. Why? 1) The owners - It was a very last minute decision to go to Belize. Debbie responded to my request right away. After a few emails I felt like I was working with a home owner who cared about their property which made is easier to trust the wonderful things that others said about the property. 2) The house - it's one of the newest properties on the island. Note: this is not a "bungalo" of any kind. It's a cottage. It's a well built, clean and neat. It's right next to a larger property that also belongs to the owner. So you know *if* you do have neighbors they will be nice. When you are on an island in the middle of the Caribbean you don't go on vacation to stay inside. But when you are home, you want to feel comfortable. I was up around 8am so being near the propeller airport was not a buzz kill. The AC works very, very well - the remote is very handy :) Knowing that you have a comfortable/safe place to come back to after the days events made all the difference. 3) The location - It's on the quiet, south end of the island -an easy 5 min bike ride to town. It was so nice knowing that everyday I would have a enjoyable bike ride to town and in the evening I would have an enjoyable ride back home. 4) Onsite customer service - Michael the property manager made me feel at home right away. He stopped by about every day. 5) The island itself - We all go on vacation to relax. I can be type "A". This island is just what the Dr. ordered. It's "easy going and simple." Easy to get around (the island is so small) & simple in that there are things to do - but not too many, just enough to keep any trip exciting. If you want to sit by the ocean a drink cocktails -you can. If you want to walk around and know you won't get lost -you can. If you want to dive and snorkel -you can. No cars are allowed on the island -bikes, flip flops, golf carts only :) It's not a commercialized island. It's a great blend of a genuine cultural experience and comfort. Everyone speaks english. Go to Rosie's Go find the Cake Lady Go to Ragamuffin tours Rent bikes Get on Debbie's good side so when you want to go back it will be available. Great for a couple *If you pick apart a place like this you need to spend more time learning how to relax. It was a perfect getaway for a savvy traveler. Thank you so much.
My family enjoyed our stay at this location. It was clean, comfortable & had all we needed to make our time there wonderful! We were please with the rate also. There were 4 of us & did not feel cramped there. It was wonderful to have bikes to travel into the main town which was very close. Plus we were very close to the airport which made departure easy for us. Having a pool was a true delight! The owner was incredibly attentive to our emails questions. The manager welcomed us so nicely & he was so much fun to meet. We highly recommend this cottage!
So glad that you enjoyed your vacation to the island. We also are happy that you were comfortable in the Cottage. Our manager, Michael, is a gem...Did he mention that he represented Belize in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics?
We just got back from Caye Caulker and this house was amazing. It was clean and the property manager Michael was very accommodating. It was nice having a pool, even though it was shared with the other house on the property. The air-conditioning worked great, with 90 degree days it was a must. It sets back on the island close to the airport on a beautiful street. Bicycles were available for rent from the property manager which we used everyday. All in all this was an amazing house and made our vacation even better. Just a tip, make sure to bring plenty of bug spray.
Goodlace for a couple, maybe with child. Very nice studio with a/c, pool, kitchen. Everything that you need. Close to the airport, but no problem with noise. The care taker, Michael, is a gem and very helpful. Highly recommend this place. Only thing that we did not like was the high cleaning fee, which pushed the oer night cost up..
My boyfriend and I spent two weeks in Belize, one week in Caye Caulker and one week in Placencia, and we truly loved our stay in Sea Garden cottage! It is a new property very close to the airport and a ten minute bike ride from the 'downtown' area on Front Street. The room is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is fully-equipped and we were always glad we found everything we needed, there's TV with movies provided for the off-days, there's A/C, everything works :) everything is well-maintained, the shared pool is great and kept clean as well. Michael the property manager was quick to respond and assist in our inquiries, and was awesome at recommending which restaurants to try in the village. Debbie had been great and was prompt at responding to emails and phone calls. As feedback, I will have to agree with another reviewer regarding bike rentals and that it should be built into the rental fee since it is the best way to get around this sleepy, charming village. Also I found the water pressure constantly low, but didn't really bother me and it was still good enough for warm showers. Loved Caye Caulker and I would highly recommend this cottage. We were not disappointed!
So glad that you enjoyed the island and the Sea Garden Cottage. Thank you for your generous review, and we hope that you can come again sometime.
We loved our time in the Sea Garden Cottage. The place had everything we needed and we were able to make it home for our time on Caye Caulker. Michael was helpful and we appreciated he'd put some cold Belikins in the fridge for our arrival - as we requested. The cottage was clean, tidy and has a great finish. Getting round the island on the bikes was fun too. We threw our snorkles and masks into the baskets and off we'd go for the day, usually stopping in Chan's supermarket on the way home to get something good to cook up for dinner. We also had a few lazy days by the pool which was a great alternative. Although it was great to have them, bikes were really the only way to get around on the island, unless you want to rent a golf cart, so we felt that they should be included with the rental of the cottage and that would be our only (small) feedback. We would however both recommend Sea Garden Cottage to anyone making a trip to Caye Caulker - we had a fantastic time, we loved the location, facilities and Debbie and Michael were really easy to deal with.
After seeing some of the other rental properties on the island, I was glad I had booked the Sea Garden Cottage. It was truly one of the nicest looking rental properties on Caye Caulker and it immediately felt like home. The interior of the house was clean and the kitchen was well supplied with cookware, etc. While it's a studio cottage, it is still quite spacious and airy, with high ceilings. The adjoining pool is also clean and well maintained. Also, if you are flying in or out of Caye Caulker, you really could not choose a more convenient location. We literally hopped off the plane, walked a few yards and were at the cottage. Despite being so close to the airstrip, the noise was minimal. In fact, this side of the island is quiet. If you're looking to be right in the action (close to bars/restaurants) by the split, this place might not be for you. However, if you're looking for a quiet place to retreat, this cottage is perfect. Caulker is small and if you're able to walk, it's quite walkable; You can get anywhere on the island in a matter of minutes. The property also has bikes for rent. These have baskets in front, so it's very easy to pick up groceries for cooking. There is also a mobile phone left in the house with phone numbers for local taxis and the caretaker. It's very easy and inexpensive to use a taxi at night or when rainy (two times when it's inconvenient to walk or bike to the other side of the island). Michael, the caretaker, was very courteous and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Sea Garden Cottage and would recommend it.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of the Sea Garden Cottage. I am so pleased that you enjoyed our new cottage and pool. We love being on the "best street on the island". It was a pleasure speaking with you, and I hope you can return sometime.
I enjoyed staying in this house. It was a newly built adorable cottage that had all the amenities necessary for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had limited access to the pool, but it was communicated very openly to us that it had been reserved before hand. The days that we did have access to the pool were extremely relaxing and fun because we didn't have to leave the area, we just got all of our groceries and beverages and enjoyed a day away from the public. There are bikes available to rent for cheaper than they are on the island so that is convenient, as well as very fast WIFI. The owners and grounds keeper were always helpful and available when needed. Overall we had a delightful time here.
Dear Ash, Thank you so much for your kind review and for being one of the first guests at our new cottage. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cottage and swimming pool. I hope you will be able to stay with us again in the future. P.S. The new pool is now fully accessible for our guests.
I loved staying at this cute cottage. Everything is brand new and very clean. The pool was just fabulous anytime of the day. This home is in a very quiet area, we enjoyed having our coffee outside to listen to the birds in the mornings. We rented bikes from the owner, which was perfect for us. We took the path very near by, and rode right next to the ocean most days to go into town. The manager, Michael, was so wonderful to us. This home was a great find! Highly Recommend this cottage!
